Wuyi (in Chinese: 五一) here means "Five One" or "May 1st". On April 23 of 1957, to commemorate Chinese Labour Day on May 1st, Tianjin Watch Factory produced a "trial product" based on the Wuxing Watch, and it was named the "51 Watch" or "Wuyi Watch" (in Chinese: 五一表), and by the end of October of 1958, the 51 Watch was mass produced, thus it became the first commercial product from the Tianjin Watch Factory which laid the foundation for the development of China's watch industry.
The new 51 Watch inherits the design of the original 51 Watch. The "51" logo at 12 o'clock has become a classic in Sea-Gull's retro series after continuous precipitation over time. The classic dauphine hands over the sunburst-pattern dial reproduces the retro design of the watch.
