This watch is a reissue of the original Dongfeng watch that was made by Tianjin Watch Factory in September of 1966, the original Dongfeng watch has the ST5 movement that was designed and developed by the engineers and technicians of Tianjin Watch Factory, which is of extraordinary significance in Chinese watchmaking.
Dongfeng was a sub-brand of the Tianjin Watch Factory, it was the first Chinese watch brand exported to overseas market. There's a Chinese idiom "万事俱备，只欠东风" which means "All is ready expect for the east wind", and the "east wind" in Chinese is 东风 or "Dongfeng" in Pinyin, and Chinese people consider Dongfeng as a very important or critical condition. The calligraphy of "Dongfeng" (东风) on the dial came from Mao Zedong, former president of China.
