Zheng He, a Chinese mariner, explorer, diplomat, fleet admiral, and court eunuch, is widely recognized as the greatest sailor in Chinese history. During the early 15th-century Ming dynasty, he led seven voyages and used his fleet of large wooden ships, known as "treasure ships" or "gem ships," to transport goods, rare treasures, and exotic animals on long-distance trips. The size of these ships was unparalleled at that time and they were instrumental in expanding trade relationships and cultural exchanges between China and other countries.
